I really wanted to like this but it just seems like I don’t like my beverages supercharged with aeration 💨 Just the regular amount will do… 🫗 If you’re one who enjoys foam, this would’ve been a hit but personally it was just a tad too alienating to my mouth 🫨 Also, I thought #bamnut was just too raw and grainy for daily casual drinking. I liked that it wasn’t too sweet though so not a total loss 🙃 I think this went for close to RM12 back then but today it’s probably RM 15 😵 It’s a unique experience for sure… I have a hunch fans of this #veganmilk may also be in the camp of people who appreciate sparkling water 👌

I had never heard of this type of legume before and was a bit suspicious, but was so impressed with the nutritional profile of this milk (and sustainable angle) that I wanted to try it. It has protein, is fortified so contains calcium and B and D vitamins, and no added sugar. The colour is a very light brown, to me the thickness was perfect - it felt creamy but not too thick. It is definitely an acquired taste and does have a mild nutty beany taste, a bit like soymilk but I would say more beany. I really enjoyed this with my cereal, and also heated in chocolate milk (it heated well and didn’t split). I would like to buy this again :)

This legume-derived milk is the light version of the Everyday variety I reviewed previously (purple carton,) with the thinner consistency and milder taste that comes with a more dilute product. Airy gets you less bamnut for your buck, but in this case I didn’t mind: it wasn’t too watery, and the earthy pungency of the groundnut was tempered to a tolerable level. I was able to drink this one on its own. As with the Everyday milk, it’s a good source of essential vitamins and minerals that vegans need to thrive. I also appreciate WhatIF’s commitment to regenerative practices for people and the planet (their use of the conditional drives me a little crazy, but I can overlook that.) Given its aftertaste and dark color, this isn’t the most versatile milk on the market, but my preference would be for Airy if repurchasing. It’s always so cool to see new #ditchdairy alternatives — hopefully each one is another nail in the coffin for a senselessly brutal industry that shouldn’t exist. #cowmilkisforcalves
