Today, I found 88 Acres at Target was on sale. They had this dark chocolate sunflower butter in a pouch and, although a teensy bit skeptical due to the last sunflower butter pouch I had purchased, I was at least a little familiar with 88 Acres, having seen them at the gluten free expo a couple of years ago. This was a 180 of the last one. I don’t know if it was because I made sure to knead it for a couple more minutes than the previous one, but the taste and texture were spot on. It was smooth and chocolatey. I had it with a snap dragon apple (from Aldi), as well as plain, as the apple was also a new variety for me and just as delicious (and crisp!). The butter held well from the first squeeze (pictured). Towards the end, I even took an apple piece with the butter and turned it upside down. It was good and stuck, at least for the ten seconds I waited before gobbling that piece up. Nutritionally, it has 190 calories, 16g of fat (2.5g saturated fat), 11g of carbs (3g fiber), and 5g protein. It seems like a lot, but in comparison, I think it’s okay. Definitely provides somewhat of a balance of nutrients. Which makes it good as part of a light meal or snack to hold you over. I’m excited to buy this again, but when it goes on sale. Regularly priced at $1.89, on sale through their app I got it for $1.20. I purchased this looking to try different nut butter brands and was blown away...by the labeling haha 88 Acres made sure to let y'all know their bakery is top 7 allergen free as well as a some nice message for good vibes as you're enjoying the spread :) The butter itself is great, but as with most natural butters you have to make sure to stir it up well (I suggest from the bottom) otherwise towards the end you'll only have chunky spread thats dry and unappetizing. I enjoy this with toast, oatmeal, crackers...it goes well with anything really, afterall its chocolate!
