I wanted to talk about something I learned recently.
I have a baby, she’s biologically mine. But in my life I liked to adopt one or more children. It really doesn’t matter to me wether my child is biologically mine or not.
So I started to look up everything about adoption here in Belgium.
To start: It costs averagely €10000! Yeah… My mouth fell open… Not including the stays in the origin country where the child is originally from. Because most origin countries have as a rule that the adoption parents stay for a few months in their country to get to know the culture. I understand the idea, but who can afford that?
It takes averagely 10 years to receive your child… 10 YEARS????
My conclusion: I probably won’t adopt a child in my life. Never say never, but it’s practically impossible. It should be made more efficient, because I’m sure there are enough children who need a safe home. I hope it gets more normal… because this is just sad… 👧🏼👦🏻
+ there is not one adoption agency in Belgium, so if you want go adopt your child you need to do everything yourself, which makes it even harder. 2 likesReply
