We opted to crumb and fry it. Turned out just like calamari - but the tough version. Oddly weird. We have another tin so will try grilling next round. Not bad, but not sure wether we would bother to get it again.

Bland on its own but when seasoned well mimics calamari. The texture does remind me of calamari. Tastes nice when battered as well and served with a tartar sauce.
It's interesting, definitely worth a try. Found these on the sale shelf. Probably wouldn't get them at full price, which is unfortunate as i would like to try them prepared in the other ways listed on the tin. Also, there are no instructions so you'll need to find your own.
This was special. 🙂 I think I might have bought this at vegan fest. I will not be buying again because I didn’t like it, but nor did I not like it. I don’t really what I think about it. It’s pretty much mushrooms shaped like calamari (squid rings), flavoured in a seaweed broth. Tastes a lot like the sea, has the same rubbery bite as well. I guess I expected them to be fried like presented on the can? Maybe If i battered and fried them I’d love them. #mushroomlover #calamari #leavethefishinthesea (although squid 🦑 are not fish!)
i never tried calamari before and certainly not #vegancalamari, so i was very curious how this would turn out. sadly i have to say that it neither was worth the effort nor the price. i paid like 3 or 4€ for 130g of these mushrooms. what i really disliked is that there are no instructions for how to prepare this product. i looked it up online and found a recipe for how to make vegan calamari from an eggplant. they said you should prepare a mixture of flour and plant milk and put the calamari rings in it, than put them in breadcrumbs and fry them. i also rinsed them before since there were marinated in seaweed and i think you didn't need them anymore. unfortunately, when i tries ro fry the calamari, the breadcrumb coating fell of and it really didn't work at all. the mushrooms just have a weird texture and I also don't like the taste. since i never ate real calamari before, i can't tell whether they taste authentically.
