Nice and crispy with a tasty batter. I don’t even know why some places don’t have vegan onion rings, which I used to have before becoming vegetarian and vegan, because this taste just as good, and the perfect side to compliment any meal here. I even enjoyed some as a leftover by reheating in my toaster oven.
I love the prepared food at Down to Earth, weather it’s at the hot food or salad bar, or ordering, such as how I got this. The ordering is made super simple. They have a kiosk where you can take your time and decide what to get, and then you can either pay right on it with your credit card or get a print out to pay in cash at the register. And then you simply pick it up at their counter.
Most of the Down to Earth in Hawaii are very similar, but each one is a little different, so it’s worth visiting different ones when you’re in the area. For example, this location doesn’t have a Reduced section with the deep discounts that the others have. But this does have the Poached and Sunny Side vegan eggs that not all the other locations have. This is one of the newer locations, but probably my least favorite. I always run into issues with the parking here. I used to always forget to validate my parking stub until I’m ready to drive off. On this occasion, I was ready to remember, but they did away with parking stubs, and will charge for parking over an hour. We were just over an hour, since we ate there after shopping, so had to pay. All other locations are free, easy parking, and no security gate to have to go through.
