alistar I’ve only had one experience in hospital as a vegan here but I was lucky to be in a private hospital with insurance through my work. There they had a range of options for different dietary issues as I would expect. It wasn’t anything amazing but I had a vegan option thankfully. We were mortified in France when my partners brother had a brain tumor and was hospitalized for his last months. There were no options and all they served him was meat, fish, cheese, eggs, dairy and very few veggies and fruits. We were aghast thinking this was the stuff that was killing him in the first place. I wished I could have quit my job and moved to France to prepare all his meals to try to make a change for him. Big sigh. Hospitals really need to make a change to their food offerings in my opinion. glendaluise I was hospitalized in Italy (public hospital) and the nurse brought me a menu with crosses to fill in to compose the meals and vegan options are provided. not substitutes like fake meat, but balanced dishes with cereals, legumes, vegetables and fruit. It happened 10 years ago, but I imagine and hope it's still like that now.4 likesReply
