$10 ‘A refreshing lime mocktail with a Japanese matcha infusion, roasted rice puffs, fresh citrus slices and mint leaves.’ In terms of presentation, they could have really done better, but in terms of originality I must give them full stars. I’ve never seen such a combination before so I had to order it. The prevailing flavours here were definitely lime and mint, but not so much green tea, which I think is good because the bitterness of the green tea helped to reel back the sweetness of the lime juice. The glass came packed with a slice of lemon, mint leaves, some charred rice puffs, some ice with a spoon jammed in, and a paper straw on the side. Delicious and indeed refreshing!

‘Topped with Asian greens’ $19.80 This was delicious. Although the smoked ‘duck’ didn’t really have a smokey flavour to it, it still tasted like duck and was almost buttery in its delectable, tender richness. The wheat noodles were thin, plentiful, and round and had a nice bite to them. The mushroom broth was clear and well seasoned but I wasn’t a big fan of the woody greens stems they included on top. I would have liked much more leaf and much less stem and from more vegetables than one. Other than that, a solid, well-priced dish. You can also choose GF noodles, rice vermicelli, or flat rice noodles instead of the default wheat noodles if so inclined.

‘Fluffy turmeric-infused wheat bun filled with a sweet and creamy custard made from Australian pumpkin and Thai coconut cream.’ $7.80 Ooooh my word these were absolutely scrumptious. They’re found in the entree section but they really should be with the desserts they were so creamy and dreamy. I could eat a bowl of just the filling itself. The buns were as light and fluffy as clouds and the sweet pumpkin filling was thick, rich, and had hints of apricot to it. I practically inhaled both of the buns even after a big noodle soup and they weren’t too heavy even then. 5/5 stars across the board along with their delicious BBQ ‘no pork’ buns. Heaven.

Here was the menu description: ‘A must-try HK street snack! Rice flour base filled with fresh white turnip, tofu “bacon”, and shiitake mushrooms’ Here’s how it was: Texture: sad, non-crispy outer with gloop inner. Taste: awesome. Especially with the red ‘hoisin’ sauce that didn’t look like hoisin sauce. I think in order to make the unfortunate gloopiness of the inside a great experience the outer needs to be the polar opposite, which is very crispy. I don’t care if more oil is involved and it’s less healthy, it needs that crispiness badly.

This was a new item featured on the specials board, and, as a lover of spice and eggplants respectively, I had to give this a go. Thought they might pan-fry the buns or something but oooooh no- these babies are DEEP fried. The initial taste of biting through the batter is the same as the batter on fish and chips: oil. Then came the squidgy softness of the bun and then… nothing! The eggplant mixture was totally bland! The radish cakes had much more flavour than these! Even with the greens, chickpeas, tofu, and carrot the eggplant is mixed with, the whole thing is pretty tasteless. Such a shame. Their pork buns are a flavour explosion, but I guess as these are new they’re still working out the kinks. They took my feedback of these very well, so hey, they may will have improved the next time I come around.

‘Server with Asian greens’. Lovely and refreshing. The Asian greens in question were little baby bok choi and spinach, with delightful little wontons filled with shiitake mushrooms, carrot, and other veggies. The broth was just as tasty with a kind of medicinal-tasting spice I just couldn’t place, but it wasn’t bitter. A solid appetiser choice. This came out super quick like everything else here, but also super hot, so be patient like I wasn’t and let this sit for a bit before you burn your tongue!

Absolutely divine. I couldn’t fault this. The service manager Alice gave when I placed the order to picking it up was very attentive and pleasant. I bought this as my birthday cake, and even after carrying it for 2 hours out of refrigeration through various delayed trains and car rides it was still absolutely perfect and hadn’t budged an inch when I got home. Visually, it’s stunning and sophisticated, but most importantly, it’s also heavenly. I have no idea what they used for the ‘mascarpone’ cream as it had no tell-tale aftertaste of coconut or soy, but it was so creamy yet very light. I ended up eating about a quarter of the cake easily without feeling sick or heavy afterwards. Very dangerous. The way the fingers of coffee-infused sponge was arranged in the cake was also delightful. Expensive at $70 for the smallest cake, but worth every penny in my opinion.

I got the more expensive ‘seafood’ Malaysian laksa, and it was heaven. It came out in a flash even though my friend and I rushed in literally 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. The portion was very generous, the noodles were copious and had just the right chewiness, and the broth was addictive and dreamy. I drained the lot. The ‘seafood’ was pieces of konjac ‘calamari’ and ‘prawns’ which had that classic squidginess and great sweet flavour. An awesome laksa that I regret wolfing down so quickly!

Incredibly expensive at $7 for this tiny little square of brownie but thank god it was dreamy. The chocolate flavour was strong and not too sweet, with hints of carob, and the texture was dense, rich, and had a slight ‘squidginess’ to it, almost like that of Soreen malt loaf.

A healthy blend of rice, adzuki beans, mung beans, and another type of white bean I couldn’t identify. A perfect single portion size, and sticky enough to pick up easily with chopsticks.

Delicious! My friend shared this with me and I’m very glad she did. The whole thing came out quickly and steaming hot in a pot- it was a clear mushroom broth with chunks of broccoli, carrot, tomato, wood ear and shiitake mushroom, cabbage, enoki mushrooms, fried tofu, taro, and miso bean meatballs. Didn’t come across any water chestnuts or soy mince listed in the description though. It was nice to eat with the multigrain bean rice.

My god these were good. I still to this day have no idea what they used as the BBQ “pork” smothered in that hoisin sauce but it was top-tier. The unbleached wheat and rye buns were soft and dangerously delectable. They both were well presented too, coming out steaming hot in their little steamer basket. I could eat about 50 of these in one sitting. Absolutely delicious.
