This is an #accidentallyvegan story. Out of pure laziness we strolled over to a little local pizzería that we suspected had changed hands, and were so glad that we did! The previous owners only offered a Marinara pizza which has no "cheese" but once we told the attendant about our being vegan, they announced that they had option for vegan mozz!!! I chose their Vegetarian pizza which has pre-roasted eggplant, zucchini and red pepper, and were told the pizzas would be ready in 10 minutes. They have cute sidewalk tables and indoor dining tables where you can wait as long as there aren't clients needing them. The timing was perfect and we were handed piping hot pizzas in recyclable cardboard boxes. He also handed us a menu so we could have the option to preorder in the future.
The pizzas had a generous helping of tangy tomato sauce and mozz, and the crust was crispy outside and delectably chewy inside. The attendant introduced me to the owner/chef and they were both super nice! This is the beginning of a rekindled relationship with Pizzería Marameo 🍕💛
The surcharge for vegan mozz is 1,50€, bringing the total to 10,50€. Also available is a whole wheat crust option for 1€ more and double crust for 3€, which we can't imagine as the pizza itself was super filling! #refugiotheanimalacademy #sinoesveganonoescomida
