Please ignore the photo, we got both a vegan dosa and a vegetarian dosa and I happened to only have a picture of the vegetarian dosa 😰 But my review isn’t even about the dish itself, it’s about the dosa. Prior to ordering, my South Indian tamil family was skeptical about the “dosa” on the menu. We suspected that it wouldn’t be authentic and that we’d be disappointed. We were pleasantly surprised when what we tasted was perfectly fermented dosa batter, with just the right amount of crisp!!! If you’ve never had dosa before, definitely give it a try here or at a dozen vegan/vegetarian South Indian restaurants in New York City (special shout-out to Saravana Bhavan!)
Wow I wasn’t expecting to have a dosa at abcV but knowing that anything Jean Georges puts on the menu is worth trying we ordered this. It was amazing! I think I had 3-4 dosas on my NY trip and this beat out all of the Indian places I usually go to!!! Crispy, perfectly thin and just thick enough, and served with avocado 🥑 and sprouts that made this dish so light compared to the way dosas are normally served. Be sure to order this #veganized and they’ll swap out the yogurt for coconut yogurt. My last dish review from abcV in #nyc. Check out the menus!
