This is a new special that they just came out with. They claim they had this many years ago and that it was a hit, but I can’t help but wonder if this really came about due to Down to Earth’s Mango Sticky Rice Smoothie having gone viral Even though I wasn’t crazy for that smoothie, I decided to give this a try, because it’s rare that they have a special that is vegan and also the pictures and description looked so enticing, with swirls of haupia (coconut) ice cream and chunks of sweetened coconut rice. It was nothing like that. It’s basically a mango sorbet with little pieces of the sticky rice and there was no prominent taste of coconut (or maybe there was a hint, but I forgot already, but in either case, nothing memorable, even though this was just yesterday). I was happy to share this small scoop with my friend. He had no comment about it either, so I think he felt the same way I did.
It makes me wonder, all the other non-vegan specials that they come up with that look so enticing, are they really all dull in reality. At least with Down to Earth, the photo you see advertised is what you actually get.
Not bad tasting, just your typical sorbet, but certainly not worth the price. I won’t even get this again on #nationalmangoday coming up on July 22.
