I’m so happy to have the new Louie’s in the heart of St Johns! North Portland needed another pizza place with vegan options. I love Pizza Creature food cart but it’s always nice to have an indoor option during the winter.
Louie’s is a traditional Italian restaurant that serves pasta, pizza, and my favorite, calzones! 😋 Their pizza and calzones can be made vegan by requesting vegan cheese instead (there is a $2.50- $3.50 up charge for this depending on which pizza size you order).
This calzone was generously sized and my partner and I were fine sharing it. They offer a small calzone for $14 (pictured here), or a large one for $22 (not counting the vegan chz up charge), and you can customize which 3 fillings you want. We chose garlic, artichokes, and mushrooms, and the combination was perfect.
I forgot to ask which vegan cheese they use, but it tasted great and was perfectly melted. Also, their red sauce is superb!
I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for quality Italian with a nice ambiance. 💯
