This is one of the best vegan mac n cheese dishes I’ve ever had. I

love the presentation in a little skillet. :) And the herbed breadcrumbs added a nice additional flavor to the dish.

This dish was so comforting and homey. The cheese sauce was cashew based and I

added on shiitake bacon, which added a nice crunchy element. I love mac and cheese dishes that have a vegetable and/or nut based sauce because ones with vegan cheese alternatives tend to have an artificial taste—this hit the spot like non-vegan mac and cheese, but did not taste like an artificial cheese alternative and it didn’t feel too heavy either. My non-vegan partner approved as well.

The service was also excellent.

I miei primi mac n cheese! Molto saporiti e cremosi, penso non facciano rimpiangere il

formaggio a nessuno. Io ho aggiunto i broccoli e ci stavano alla perfezione! 20 dollari.

Urban Vegan Kitchen located in NYC is my go-to restaurant to take non vegan friends

and family. The atmosphere is a great vibe, amazing music AND live DJs! With a second location opening in Astoria, you literally can't go wrong with anything in the menu.

Pictured above are some of my personal favorites; the Tofuego sandwich w/ fries, cheesey bread, Mac & Cheese served in a skillet and topped with shittake bacon, and on their specials menu a blueberry/blackberry pie!

This vegan comfort food restaurant has passed the test with all my non vegan friends and family with the consensus being that they would never know that the food is vegan!

Urban Vegan Kitchen’s mac and cheese is one of my favorites in the city. They

use Numu mozzarella and cashew sauce which is absolutely delicious, but it still has a bit of a cashew taste (which doesn’t bother me at all, because it tastes amazing). It’s listed as an appetizer, but it’s enough for a main.
