As a South Asian who grew up drinking this as a common household beverage referred to as “manjal paal” in Tamil or “haldhi dhoodh” in Hindi, I occasionally order Turmeric Lattes (a.k.a ✨golden milk✨ in ze hipster cafes) with a massive teaspoon of postcolonial irony in a kind of deliberate tongue-in-cheek attempt at satirizing my own westernized-ness (does this make sense) - even though I’m really just paying $7 for something I could make at home so nobody’s laughing. Anyway, that’s basically why I was prepared to hate this and resent myself for betraying my own cultural roots by buying into the blasphemous fad of culturally appropriated beverages. But actually, I found that it was well-made! Powerful flavours - turmeric mixed with a piquant ginger zing - and the oat mylk provides a smooth texture without diluting/watering down/overpowering the turmeric taste and texture. Slight graininess from the turmeric but that’s to be expected and part of what I really like about turmeric milk in general. Only qualm is the price ($6.30) but it might be a reasonable price for those who don’t often drink turmeric milk or who find it a novelty beverage.
