Jajaja was one of the first restaurants I ever put on my bucket list, so I had to find time to go while in NYC this week! With three locations in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn, it wasn't hard to find a location that matched our schedule. We started with this sampler of three dips: guacamole, queso, and sikil pak. The queso was so creamy and I felt like it was the perfect gloopy texture. It's made from coconut and has a slight kick to it. The sikil pak was new to me, but I might have to try making it sometime! It's a Mayan dip made from crushed pumpkin seeds, habanero, and plum tomato. I loved the nuttiness from the pumpkin seeds. It also ended up being pretty filling. It has the perfect touch of heat to it. This has a spice symbol next to it, but the spiciest dip was the sikil pak, and it was very manageable to me. I got an entree marked as spicy too and didn't feel it warranted the symbol. If you want heat however, each dish is served with a side of three sauces: red, orange, and black. The orange and black sauces are very flavorful but slightly sweet. The red sauce however really packs the heat! #dip #guacamole #avocado #queso #coconut #pumpkinseeds #chips #salsa #glutenfree #mexican #nyc #brooklyn #vegantravel
