I so wanted to love this burger but it just didn’t hit the spot I’m afraid. It was a special occasion and it’s always lovely to go somewhere like Mildred’s which has a guaranteed selection of vegan dishes. The starter course was really good but this #veganburger was dry and flavourless. The spiced potato had not landed in any distinct way, the burger was a paste- like consistency which would have benefited from some roughage- a few un-mashed peas for instance. It was like they had forgotten to put the tomato cashew makhani sauce in it as that would’ve helped to give it a much needed moisture. The cheese was a square of #violife I think but it wasn’t melted so it did nothing to help the absence of juiciness. And, I felt a bit dismayed that they made an extra charge of £2.50 for that one slice. I daubed the whole burger in the accompanying mint sauce which saved the meal. The brioche bun was fine, soft and light. The chips were tasty, salty and peppery. There was a garnish of watercress but the problem was it was too delicate to combat the dryness. I wanted to sandwich it with a huge slice of succulent Spanish tomato! All that said, I like Mildred’s and am keen to try some of the other branches that are sprouting up all over town. I’ll just avoid their burger range for the time being. 😊 Price £16.5 + cheese £2.5 #veganinlondon #soho #goveganfortheanimals #abillionworld #stillsearchingforagoodveganburger #fundacionsantuariogaia 💚
