Slow Bakes is a quaint little space at Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre, which is

itself a really serene and tranquil place to visit btw! Nearly everything on the menu is vegan if not vegetarian, we had:

🍞Maple Syrup & “Butter” Toast — I really liked this! As a fan of maple syrup and not a fan of regular butter, this was some great toast. I liked how the syrup complemented the sourdough toast (which was rather light too)!

🥑Avocado Toast — I’m not a fan of avocado so I didn’t try this. But my non-vegan friend did and gave it a solid 8/10. Their avocado spread is apparently a special!

🧁A selection of buns (adzuki, coconut, chocolate hazelnut) — the buns were a tad dry but nothing a little toast in the microwave can’t fix! The fillings weren’t the most generous, but not bad at all for vegan buns, since they’re so hard to come by anyway. I highly recommend coconut!

Slow Bakes is pretty out of the way for me, which is a bummer because I think it’s one of my favourite vegan finds so far! The cafe also overlooks Yishun dam, which makes the entire setting so peaceful and great for some time out. I really appreciate how affordable their prices are (the buns are mostly under $3) — a must visit in my books! ✨
