For our last lunch in Palermo we went back to Haiku, a fully vegan restaurant. This time we decided to eat outside, it was a nice sunny day and the weather was lovely. At lunch you can either pick a dish from the menu or have the “Haiku dish” formula, which consists of picking 2, 3 or 4 dishes and having a little bit of them in a plate for a price between 12 and 14€. I decided to try this and picked from the daily proposals: bastoncini di sedano rapa, caponata and farinata di ceci. The bastoncini were celeriac fried sticks and were simply amazing! Probably the part of the dish I enjoyed the most. They had a perfect texture and such a pleasant flavor. The caponata was also very good, it was probably the dish I tried most often here in Palermo and this one held up pretty well compared to all others. It’s a dish made with eggplant and tomato sauce and it’s a sweet and sour specialty. The farinata di ceci is basically a chickpea flour cake, very popular in central Italy. This one specifically didn’t drive me crazy but it was ok! The owner remembered us because we visited for dinner a couple of nights before and was super sweet and welcoming with us. I can only recommend this place, we had both times a very good experience. #palermo #sicily #veganrestaurant #fullyvegan #caponata #celeriac #farinata #veganfriendly
