My first time having “fish and chips” since being vegan for years and well worth
the wait! It’s SO good. And perfect for those Sunday afternoons after a gig in Glasgow. #newarc

as I'll always end up having this. There could be a few more peas, but otherwise perfect. The tartare sauce is amazing

but unfortunately none of them were ‘it’. While this was okay and the chips were 10/10 chippy style, it wasn’t quite what I was looking for. The other options on the menu looked good though and my non-vegan friend enjoyed her dish
tofu with seaweed laced through it. It's tasty 😜
location and welcoming atmosphere won me over from my very first visit, so it’s always near the top of my list of places to go now when I’m in town. And while there are lots of really yummy things on their menu, I pretty much always just wind up getting the tofish.
I often use seaweed or seaweed stock in my own cooking when I’m trying to approximate seafood, as it’s such an effective way to give vegan food a fishy flavour. So I was really happy when I first bit into this and saw that they had coated the tofu in seaweed inside the batter. :) The texture of the tofu is also great - firm with a nice bite, and no mushiness at all. And while it’s been far too long since I had fish and chips for me to say how close an approximation it is, it’s easily delicious enough to stand on its own merits. The chips are good too! They don’t really taste like chip shop chips, and are more like the hand cut chips I make at home, but that’s just fine in my books. Recommended to vegans and non-vegans alike.
in for a treat! My first really trying “Fish & Chips” so I was excited! The sea weed layer on top of the tofu really kicked up the flavor, and we were thinking there was some type of ocean marinade that was tasty!! I was most excited for the local style batter, IT LOOKS SO CRISPY!!! And it was, piping hot dipped in the tartar sauce, this To-Fish & Chips was incredible!
and chips I’ve had in Glasgow and Edinburgh. I am a tofu fan but it’s just quite plain with this dish. 🤔
tofu was soft and the batter was spot on
sauce especially, very garlicky and an ideal complement to the main.
