Back to one of our favourite local restaurants, Jai Krishna. It’s a vegetarian/vegan place and all dishes are clearly marked to distinguish the dairy ones and most can be made vegan on request.
To start we had Kachories, 3 balls of delicious, nutritious, compact spicy lentils. £3.50 I guess the fact that they are deep fried makes them less ‘healthy’ but very tasty to have on occasion.
They are quite dry by design which makes the tamarind sauce a perfect addition. Tamarind has the good health benefit of containing a significant amount of essential amino acids.
For our mains, two of us shared Bengan Bartha - tandoor cooked aubergine priced at £6.95 and a Spinach and lentil curry. £5.50 Distinctive and complimentary tastes.
The food here is very reasonably priced and they still have a bring your own drink policy.
