Slightly reminiscent of Teochew orh nee and/or Taiwanese taro balls. Might sound strange but I think it could potentially also have been cute to have adzuki red beans and sesame seeds as toppings instead, offering a similar pop of colour and texture while having a more Asian fusion dessert-themed flavour profile.
