To celebrate the lives of my dogs who have passed away, I always have a burger in their honour on their respective birthdays and on the anniversaries of their passing. Five years ago today, one of my beautiful bulldogs, Geddy Jr, passed away. So I celebrated him at Odd Burger.
Coincidentally, Odd Burger had a BOGO promotion with its Famous Burger (a vegan version of the Big Mac). So, of course, I ordered two Famous Burgers, one with its “smash patties”, and the other with its “chickpea patties”. It was $9.29.
This review is for the Famous Burger with the chickpea patties. As one would expect, the sandwich had 2 chickpea patties, famous sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun.
I couldn’t find an ingredient list for the chickpea patties on the company’s website. Besides chickpeas, perhaps they also have flax seeds, onions, nutritional yeast and a special seasoning blend like their smash patty counterpart.
The house-made famous sauce is made with organic soy milk, French dressing, dijon mustard, relish, oil and vinegar.
The cheese is a dairy-free American-style cheddar cheeze.
The sandwich was absolutely delicious and filling. I really didn’t need the second one, but it’s too late now. 😜 Unlike the Big Mac, this sandwich was large. The chickpea patties gave the burger a slightly different taste, but the other stuff in the burger were spot-on with how I remember a Big Mac being (it’s been at least 7-8 years since I’ve had a Big Mac).
My only complaint is I think there was way too much sauce, so it was very messy. Plus the patties seemed a bit soft / mushy.
This fast food restaurant is 100% vegan, and it’s nice to be able to order off the menu without having to seek modifications or ask questions about the ingredients. I will definitely return and support Odd Burger.
