Some moments from when my friend invited me to her home to teach me her way of preparing simple vegan dishes -

Millet roti (with grated radish for extra nutrition)
Mixed dal with chayote
Mixed vegetables

Home-cooked food is the best ❤️

Went for an early breakfast with a dear friend at MTR and decided to order something light this time. The neer #dosai ($6) didn’t have much flavour but had a nice chewy texture. Some of it stuck to the plate though (I’m more

ziggyradiobear Thank you very much for checking. I have always find it VERY unavoidable to have ghee/dairy in indian food. That's why I'd rather don't eat it to save the messing about although I quite love idli, sambhar. Was told some idli contains yoghurt.

Another fellow vegan(in India) told me that even when all is labelled vegan and you tell them no ghee no dairy whatnot, it is unanavoidable that they add a splash of ghee just before serving, by force of habit/automatic action.1 likeReply
harriet I get what you mean but I love Indian food 😭 MTR was very responsive so that was great. I think idli and the chutneys should be quite safe. Some places don’t add ghee/curd to their sambhar, dosai and idli. Om Murugan Vilas Idly at Dunlop st. is one of those places and you can help yourself to as much chutney and sambhar as you like.

Oh wow then is it challenging for your friend to eat out then or does he stick to fully vegan places? I think it takes a bit of effort to source out the eateries that are willing to accommodate and make the conscious effort to leave out the ghee. I’ve been to a few where they were quite helpful and one place made my dosai without oil when I told them “no ghee, oil only”. It was to healthy for me haha Reply
ziggyradiobear Thanks for your info! I will definitely try when there is a chance. I really had many experiences with confused servers in the indian eateries in SG so I get very tired of trying already haha. So it's good to have first hand info from you.

The fellow vegan is not a friend but the boss of a small vegan eatery in Delhi😁 I happened to chat with him about the vegan concept in India and he shared with me about that knowledge. I guess he is very used to reminding food handlers to omit the ghee and dairy.1 likeReply
harriet I can relate 😆 and the language barrier makes it extra challenging for me. Glad the info is helpful!

Ohhh that’s nice. Is he also on abillion? Reply
ziggyradiobear Haha I don't think soReply
harriet Okay, if I plan a trip to Delhi, I’ll ask you for his address 😄Reply
ziggyradiobear Hahah sure but their food is not Indian food haha, is all tacos and fusion stuffReply
harriet Wah okay but good to have options hahaReply
ziggyradiobear Yeah, partly also because also wanted to support vegan business1 likeReply

Not a fan of anything orange-flavoured (this was a gift), but I really enjoyed this! It wasn't overly sweet, although I would have preferred it to be even less sweet. The chocolate flavour was rich and intense and the faint more
