First time seeing a vegan version of Jjajang ramen (炸酱面 / 짜장면）。To my pleasant surprise, the sauce wasn’t too salty and tasted absolutely delicious in a healthy way. Understand the sauce was made with mushrooms. Plant A Seed is one of the reasons I’d visit Penang again. In fact, I went there twice during my trip. #penang #veganramen

Huh what? I'm confused, what's so climate about this platter of #sushi 🤨 The menu claims they're trying to raise awareness about climate change issues, but it's hard to see what about this dish is actually so climate-friendly. Zero-kilometre ingredients? Rice taken from farms that capture ag methane? This is climate washing otherwise... It wasn't bad at all, in fact the #crispy #seaweed outer layer and the copious amount of #veganmayo dovetailed spectacularly well, and I also liked the mix of vegetables that they used. The #wasabi could use some work though. Hardly any kick, and atrocious texture reminiscent of coconut chutney (nothing wrong with that in its own right, but wasabi is wasabi eh) 🥲

Haha this was fun 😋 No attempt to be too healthy or to keep the #sweettooth in check, the #yuzu was not just used to flavour the #fizzy liquid, it was also present in that sweet jelly form at the bottom that made this effectively half a #dessert ☺️ At RM16 it's not cheap, but that glass with its unusually large-diameter base is deceptively big 🙂

#sweetdreamsaremadeofgrease 😊 And #yasaitempura is where the game is at, because you can simultaneously #eatyourveggies 😛 Oh I love #pretendingtobehealthy 😁 This was a large serving of #deepfried bits - 3 pieces each of #pumpkin, #aubergine, #shiitake #mushroom, and theatrically fanned out #enoki #mushroom 😀 The #tempura sauce could've been more flavourful, but I'm not going to nitpick - they happily brought round their homemade vegan mayo and wasabi anyway 😋 #heavenisaplaceonearth

A hearty, delicious bowl of #miso broth with a decent serving of #ramen in it 🙂 It's balanced/moderate on the flavour scale, with the chosen protagonists #tofu, #enoki #mushroom, and to a lesser extent #seaweed all rather meek. But it works in combination with certain well chosen side dishes 😉 And it's only RM12 which is very good value!

Best enjoyed in company really, it's a huge pot of #tea for RM13, refillable to your heart's content 😅 The #lemongrass and #ginger were both reasonably present, especially towards the end 🙂 I stopped them on numerous occasions from refilling the pot, because I preferred having strength of flavour over heat 😛 What an elegant teapot set!

This is good for those who have a #sweettooth but who also like things #spicy 😋🔥 On top of the #rice came the customary #veganmayo and a load of #togarashi powder ☺️ This definitely packed a punch! My one gripe was that - as you can see from the photo - the #beancurd lining wasn't taut. This, coupled with the fact that the #sushirice wasn't of the highest grade and therefore was quite lost, meant that the thing disintegrated quite easily, even from being pinched together by chopsticks 😬 You can't beat their #sushi plating, top marks!

Nice mixed platter of #sushi! It didn’t deliver well and looked a bit rough, but it was super delicious. You get a nice variety! #japanesefood Their rainbow rolls 🌈 are wrapped with nori sheets (crunchy seaweed), filled with rice and veggies - in this case red #cabbage, #carrots and #cucumber, plus some vegan #mayo. Then there’s Climate Maki which is very similar, but it gets battered and deep fried, plus they add some vegan cheese on top which they melt! My favorite roll. #sweetdreamsaremadeofgrease Then there was a classic inari, sweet fried soft #tofuskin filled with #rice. A #wakame #gunkan, rice wrapped in nori sheet and topped with wakame #seaweed salad. Lastly the set also two pieces of an inside out roll with vegan meat floss - my second favorite! Great value, tasty, lovely

Classic Wakame Salad! Probably not homemade but super delicious. You can buy them frozen and then thaw then. The restaurant already did it for you. It’s a mixture of seaweed, agar agar strips, flavorings and food coloring. For it to look more homemade they add some spice powder and sesame seeds on top. Part of their set lunch! You get three small appetizers, beautifully presented #toocutetoeat It’s a small portion of #chukawakame, a small Temari Sushi Ball aka round sushi: rice wrapped in cucumber, topped with vegan meat floss and #veganmayo. Lastly, there’s some cold #softtofu with seaweed and some sauce. Perfect with their miso soup, which also comes as a starter #japanesefood

I love this! First had it in their restaurant a few weeks ago, and now with being stuck at home due to Covid, I’ve been ordering it. Three times within a week to be precise lol. It’s #comfortfood There’s a bed of #japanese premium ramen/spirulina noodle, topped with a super #umami sauce made with #omnimeat, mushroom, white cabbage, premium grade whole sesame oil, soy sauce, again topped with takuan aka pickled daikon radish, Japanese cucumber, toasted sesame seeds, organic golden flaxseed.
