Backyard cafe moved to street 240 and is so beautiful and spacious! I love the downstairs area with couches, plants, and swinging chairs. This chai latte however is a bit disappointing. The homemade cashew milk just overpowered the chai, so it felt very milky with not enough spices. And it’s pretty pricey, at 3.85 USD.

I was even rooting for it 🥺 Because it looks so pretty, and the ingredients sound promising, what with #chocolate and #saltedcaramel. And #banana 😏 But no, it was the one thing here that really failed to make the grade. I didn't get the thick crust that I expect when I see the word tart (sorry, crumble is just inferior crust), I didn't like the unannounced #coconut, and I didn't like how apart from the chocolate on top everything else seemed to have only the mildest of flavours 😥

NGL I was hoping for a little bit more over-the-top sweetness 😏 The ingredients seem to point in that direction right? #condensedmilk and #chocolate #ganache 🥺 A gigantic serving, one of the few times when I don't manage to finish my #coffee 🙂

I love this anywhere I go 😍 #watermelon is the best type of #juice that there is, and it's not even close ☺️ These guys press it themselves and serve it in these cute little glass bottles with a metal straw 🙂 Just be careful if you're sitting in their patio dining area, there's loads of flies especially during fish season (so I'm told). By the time I was halfway through the vegan drink, about 3 little insects had met their watery deaths 🫤

I walked into this place and thought, uh-oh, everything looks too healthy, I might not like this. But this #moussaka saved the day! I thought the #sweetpotato was a really nice touch, pretty much stole the show with the #aubergine and #lentils as its foils 🙂 The texture was nice and chunky, and on the whole the dish was mighty filling. Who would have thought! ☺️

The Chia Seeds Pudding was fantastic, went the next day to get another one. Love their coffee, have one every morning from Backyard Cafe. Great overall menu, very clean and healthy dishes on the menu. Unfortunately they don’t allow dogs at this place but the other backyard which is not far away from that one is ok with dogs.

This sandwich was hella messy, and basically fell apart once I started eating it. Loved the amount of veggies on there but the “caramelized” onions were not caramelized at all and so overall there wasn’t enough flavour. I added some bbq sauce and it was all of a sudden really good.

The first few bites of this was okay, but quickly I got tired of the peanut dressing, which really didn’t taste of peanut and kind of just made the whole thing taste muddled. Loved the big chunks of tempeh, but not much else.

I really didn’t enjoy this. The mushrooms were steamed and had an unenjoyable texture, and there was way too much cashew cheese. Overall, not worth the price.

An interesting take on Mac and cheese. I guess I misread it and thought it would actually have pasta but it was just cauliflower, bit of a disappointment. Although it was less filling, it was still creamy and cheesy and yummy.

Another exciting special from backyard! I hope they add all of these new specials to their permanent menu cuz they’re really good! This was super umami and the kimchi was super yum.

Honestly was amazed by this burger. A sweet potato patty, with Korean inspired bbq jackfruit, rainbow noodle salad, pickled radish, and vegan mayo. Textures and flavours on point!
