deceivingly simple yet DELICIOUS roasted eggplant and potatos. Generous serving of 2 whole eggplants. seasoned with olive oil, salt, pepper and some sort of sour vegan cheese sauce?. Balsamic vinegar on the side. really good for 39 ringgit, will come back!

Reviewing it #forthedollar. But honestly: very tasty orange juice 🍊 #fresh It was served on ice, which made me skeptical (ice is cheaper than juice) but the juice was so fresh and sweet that the coldness from the ice cubes worked wonders. I sat close to the bar and saw the guy hand-squeezing 3 oranges for that one cup. RM13 (~2.60€) was certainly not cheap but it was perfect with my #brunch and nothing compared to the 6.50€ I have paid for supposedly fresh orange juice in Europe before.

Fruit in tropical countries hits different, which is why ordering a #fruitplatter is never a bad idea here. In Germany it would often be very disappointing, as you’d be served unripe fruit or canned sugary fruit. This platter was plentiful for RM15 (~3€). Half a #mango 🥭, some #banana 🍌, #watermelon 🍉 and #dragonfruit. Highlights were the mango and watermelon because they were perfectly sweet. The dragon fruit was lacking though. Well worth it nevertheless.

Spent some days in Kuah (main town in Langkawi 🏝️) and have now moved to Cenang (the beach area). Way more #veganfood here! Red Tomato 🍅 is a restaurant owned by a German woman #womenowned! She and her staff know what veganism is and have several vegan options on their menu and regular specials! This #scrambledtofu was delicious 🤤 It was well seasoned with their #homemade tomato salsa 🍅 and topped with crispy pieces of chips. Loads of cherry tomatoes inside as well, and some herbs. Alongside you got a nice side salad 🥗, #avocado and freshly baked bread 🥖. It was just like bread at home in Germany!! This lady knows what she’s doing! It was crispy outside, fluffy inside and moist. But most importantly: it wasn’t sweet!! 22RM or ~4.50€, which I find quite affordable for a tourist beach town! #bread

Like a lot of places in Langkawi, the opening hours stated online aren't completely accurate and I arrived at The Red Tomato only to be told that the kitchen had already closed - but then they reopened the kitchen for me anyway. It sounds like they've been struggling a little since the pandemic, but the owners were lovely and their cat snuggled up to me for my whole meal, which made my day.

Straightforward #aglioeolio dish with a mix of #mushrooms (#enoki and #shiitake) and your choice of #pasta. I went for #linguine but penne is the other option. So good if you love your mushrooms though, because they're generous with it (and with the oils), so you get a nice overall flavour. I put a dash of chilli flakes in as well, for good measure 😁

I could not believe this was vegan at first cause the mince they used was so on point and beefy! So I actually double checked with them first to make that 1. That they didn’t accidentally serve me a beef one, and 2. Pretty decent #pizza 🍕 You can request for #veganmozarella here instead if having a cheese-less pizza, which admittedly I generally do actually prefer but they were too puzzled when I suggested that so I went with the surcharge option anyways 🤭 We went with all the vegan toppings available, tomato, olive, mushroom, onion, and jalapeño, minus the petai though I would love to give that a shot some time 😅 #veganuary #ditchdairy
