$11 I chose to have this toasted and I highly recommend you do too as it gives the green tortilla a lovely bite to it. Inside was a very tasty combination of vegan mayo, vegan American cheese, and finely shredded leaves, carrot, beetroot, cucumber, and purple cabbage. Yum! For some reason they listed every ingredient but the vegan cheese on the display cabinet with the wraps, so I low-key panicked a bit when I came across the pieces of cheese. I checked with the staff and they brought out the packet to confirm it was indeed a 100% vegan cheese! The only thing that could make this wrap better/perfect is some form of protein like tempeh or tofu, as the carbohydrate, fat, and fibre elements are already covered well here and it would go a long way to making this more satiating. Other than that, a tasty, light lunch option.

We got latte art! I think this is the best one they’ve ever done for me 😄 Came out in a flash too, though maybe a little too quickly because the coffee had a slightly burnt taste. It wasn’t a total flat white as it still had as much microfoam as a latte. After now trying all the milky coffees here, this confirms they make lattes, cappuccinos, and flat whites pretty much all the same way with the exact same milk and espresso content but put the latte in a glass and dust the cappuccino with some chocolate powder 🤷‍♀️ Looking over to the more expensive hot, milky, non-coffee beverages now, a word of warning: Both types of chai latte offered are not vegan. The prana sticky chai is all natural ingredients but contains honey, while the normal chai has artificial ingredients and milk solids *sigh*. Luckily the matcha and hot chocolate powders they use here are vegan.

A regular sized matcha latte here is $5.20, plus the 50c vegan tax on milk took this up to $5.70. The fancy spoon was cool but you didn’t really need it as the froth was pretty much non-existent. The matcha powder they use here is 100% just pure Japanese matcha powder, then they add a little sugar syrup to it to sweeten it up a bit. Though it was perfectly blended it still kind of tasted … grainy? I’m not sure. A very average matcha with no latte art unfortunately.

This is simply described on the menu as ‘Mushroom, house-made chilli crisps ($12) (V/GF/DF)’, but it is sooo much more. It is perfection itself. I would have happily paid double for this at a restaurant. This delectable Korean rice porridge had enoki mushrooms, just a little coriander, black and white sesame seeds, a generous topping of chilli oil with chilli crisp, some green onion, and braised white mushrooms. The short-grain rice was buttery soft and just melted in your mouth with the perfect consistency. The chilli crisp tasted home-made and even had cardamom in it, which was a very pleasant surprised that worked amazingly to add intrigue here and there. This was one of the most delicious, lip-smacking rice porridges I’ve ever had in my life even after living in Korea for a year. Salty, savoury, umami, rich yet light on the stomach, and spicy. I couldn’t get enough of this. I could have licked the bowl clean if social convention allowed! Afterwards I stormed through to the back kitchen and praised the cook thoroughly because she needed to know 👏👏👏 5/5 across the board.

$3.70 Quite expensive for just an espresso shot, I must say. Nothing much to go wrong with this though. It had the crema, and it was strong and bitter as it should be. The atmosphere at lunch time here is quite hectic and the poor staff can come off as rude as they’re too busy running around like headless chickens trying to do a million tasks at once while simultaneously taking your order 😅 Please do something about the understaffing NAS Cafe! They’re stressin’ out here!

They forgot about me 🥲 It seemed that 0.5 seconds after I placed my order and a big group of people came in to the cafe after me they completely forgot about my order. After about 15 minutes of me sitting alone hot chocolate-less with my table number making sad eye-contact with multiple staff did they come over and ask if I was still waiting for anything. Then they served it in a glass, which incurred psychic damage points. Everyone knows hot chocolate is meant to be served in a nice, squat, round ceramic cup with a handle, something you can wrap two hands around while pulling it close as you sidle up next to a warm hearth. Maybe I romanticise hot chocolate on a cold, misly day too much. It tasted good and chocolately but one could not savour it properly being late and sans proper cup.
