From being recognised in abillion’s #sgtop50 in 2020 to being one of the worst #finedining experiences I’ve ever had — omni or otherwise 🤮 For a place that prizes itself on its “innovative natural fare prepared with the freshest vegetables, fruits, and herbs” nothing I had was exceptionally fresh or new — #candobetter 🥱 Joie is perhaps not on the highest end of fine dining at S$78, and boy do they know it, but you’d at least expect them to have the basics down pat at this point. I cannot think of the last time I’ve had a #risotto executed so poorly — it was a rice soup at most. Second time in the last week for me 👇 https://www.abillion.com/reviews/65f5e2def3e8e4409d1c1f24 Twice too did the staff attempt to serve us #nonvegan food in spite of our clearly indicating our preferences. No dairy, no eggs, no honey, and they clarified with us if we’re fine with #alliums (garlic & onions) only for it to not be present in our food anyways. What gives? 🙄 Honestly it’s about what’s expected from an establishment with half its menu containing #truffle. Like #cheese in a bad #mamak, truffle is the tool of unskilled chefs to make their course palatable 🤷♀️ I cleansed my palate at home later with some #edamame and leftover cold #instantnoodles from Koka 🍜 If you’re thinking of going here in the hopes they’ve improved, this review is dated 20th March 2024 by the way — #bringbackdates 📆 Thankfully I am not without recommendations to save your #datenight 💖 Consider instead the actually palatable cuisine & romantic ambience of Cultivate https://www.abillion.com/restaurants/singapore-cultivate-cafe-10313853 or the mouth watering offerings at Aniba https://www.abillion.com/restaurants/singapore-aniba-11347492 💥 Perhaps something traditional at LingZhi https://www.abillion.com/restaurants/singapore-lingzhi-vegetarian-liat-towers-10344127 or truly timeless and fresh at Artichoke https://www.abillion.com/restaurants/singapore-artichoke-10003642 🥬 Anything but here! Individual scathing reviews of each dish to come later. I’ve got to get my content’s worth of that three hundred dollars I paid, haven’t I? 💸 #veganfinedining #dobetter #alliumfree
Only 6 pics and I can’t remember what the other dish was! 🤣 Interesting meal. Would definitely like to come back again. I wasn’t impressed with one of my options. Which is the Tartare Platter au Naturel. Will not choose that next time. It’s the 3rd pic. Lacked flavour and was way too dry. Other than that, I enjoyed everything else.
[Disclaimer: I hate posting this type of reviews of a vegan restaurant, but in this case I think it’s fair since this restaurant promotes itself as fine dining, which lead me to book it for a special occasion.] As much as I really wanted to love this place, I don’t think the ambiance aligns with their high end cuisine. Overall, food is very good value for the quality you get. The presentation of each dish is very nice, and the enthusiastic waiters attentive. I also love their efforts to bring high end vegan/vegetarian food to the SG restaurant scene. Having said that, the restaurant ambiance and decor is quite sterile and a bit of a let down if they want to be seen as Fine dining. I went for dinner with my husband for a special occasion. They sat us in a shared side room which looked like a bright office meeting room. It all felt a little like an airport lounge, from the cardboard lady at the entrance, the purple neon lights, the (very) bright lighting and retro glass walls. Unfortunately the place doesn’t feel quite right for a special celebration despite the great food. I do hope they improve the ambiance as this place could easily be amazing.
Second time at Joie after one year and it’s still good! Love the sincere service and the effort they put into the cooking, presentation and overall experience. Here’s their 7 course lunch menu, priced slightly higher at $50ish per head, very similar to their 6 course regular lunch menu. They were buzzing on Xmas eve lunch but if you’re looking for somewhere to have a great dining experience, this is worth a visit! #joierestaurant #plantbasedoptions
A fantastic, one of a kind gastronomic experience! Plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans. Service is fast and pleasant. Food is mouth watering. Can’t wait to be back again!
