It’s been years since I’ve had a Subway sub sandwich. It’s my little protest since the company stopped offering plant-based options other than a simple Veggie Delite sandwich. Anyways, my nephew gave me a gift card so I decided to use it.
I ordered a foot-long Veggie Delite sub sandwich on Italian bread, without any cheese, and asked for an oil-vinegar dressing / sauce.
Admittedly, and as expected, I truly enjoyed the sandwich. To me, there’s something wholesome and satisfying about having a sandwich with just vegetables in it. I don’t need the cheese. I don’t need nor miss the meat.
The vegetable options were numerous. I got them all - lettuce, red onions, green peppers, spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers, black olives, jalapeños, pickles and hot pepper rings. I definitely tasted the heat of the peppers rings and jalapeños; they made the sandwich more interesting.
Ironically, the gift card from my nephew didn’t work. Luckily, I had my wallet with me. I’ll have to return to use that gift card!
The Veggie Delite sub was $9.99 plus tax.
