This bottle of Black Cherry flavoured Sparkling Ice, along with a few other flavours, was a deliberate purchase at No Frills recently after liking other flavours that I had purchased last year. Each bottle was on sale for $1; the regular price was $1.25. I consider it a somewhat healthier alternative to a traditional carbonated beverage, like a Coke product, and an alternative to plain water.

I brought this bottle to my sister’s place and my niece got into it before I was able to photograph the unopened bottle. She loves it because it’s sugar-free. She did offer me a little bit so I can legitimately claim to have tried before writing a review. After tasting it, I wanted more because it was just so refreshing on a hot day. We both absolutely loved the taste. It would be a good mix to various alcohols, like vodka. It’s calorie-less. There are no nutritional benefits to this drink.

This beverage is sweetened with sucralose. According to one website, “Sucralose is derived from sugar through a multi-step manufacturing process that selectively substitutes three atoms of chlorine for three hydroxyl groups on the sugar molecule. This change produces a sweetener that has no calories, yet is 600 times sweeter than sucrose.” And according to another website, “sucralose itself is considered vegan as it does not contain any animal-derived ingredients. It is synthesized in a laboratory and does not involve the use of animals in its production process.”

I would get this flavour again and any other flavour of Sparkling Ice beverages.
