A non-vegan friend once teased me, saying that eating vegan chocolate is like eating clay. I rolled my eyes, clutching my oat latte in defiance. But after trying this M&S Made Without Dairy Choc Bar, I have to admit… she may have been onto something.
It’s not that it’s inedible. It just has a strange chalky texture, like someone sweetened modeling clay and called it dessert. The taste leans more toward budget candy aisle than anything close to indulgent. For a brand like M&S, I expected a bit more flair and finesse. This felt lazy.
I’m vegan, not joyless. There’s no reason a dairy-free chocolate bar should taste this uninspired. Do better M&S.
