My sister surprised me with these Beyond Sausage Hot Italian Sausages when I had visited her recently on Long Island, NY. Although I’ve had them before, these sausages are the newest version - made with avocado oil. I forget what the avocado oil is a substitution for, but it’s part of the company’s attempt to make these sausages more healthy / less unhealthy. Apparently, there’s less saturated fat.
There was no difference in taste, at least not to me. The sausages are absolutely delicious, and if they were healthier, I would eat them more often. Each sausage has 13 g of fat; presumably this is a reduction from the previous version of these sausages as result of the use of avocado oil. There’s still a lot of sodium (each sausage provides 21% of your recommended daily sodium intake). They’re also extremely high in protein and iron.
I haven’t seen the sausages here in Toronto. I hope they’re available or they will soon become available. I would definitely get them because of their healthier profile (or less unhealthy profile).
I don’t know how much they cost.
