Multi Plus by YummyGums — peter-plant-power's Review (Dec 21, 2023)

FROM THE BLURRY AND FOGGY MARSHLAND BETWEEN TREATS AND FOOD SUPPLEMENTS
Tastewise, these sweets are a success, because they are only very moderately sweetened and the fruity aromas of #cherry and #raspberry are credible. This means they are able to seduce someone who is very reluctant to killer doses of sweetness that have unfortunately become the norm on the battlefield of nutrition. So yes, if you find no escape when wanting a sweet, these are better than the mainstream poisoned junk that is sold as ā€œfood treatsā€ without criminal offence.
The gummies are soft and one can melt them slowly on the tongue. They do not stick excessively to teeth or the palate. They are vegan, meaning no gelatine or animal derived structuring agent was added.šŸ‘
There is however, nothing natural about them. Because the term ā€œnatuurlijke smaakstoffen/natural aromasā€ is bogus of course, an invention of the food industry to be totally intransparent about what is actually used to add #flavour or taste to an item. There simply are no raspberries of cherries in them.
The gummies are further described to be sugar-free. Yes, it has the advantage of not feeling the acid levels in your mouth peak after melting a gummie on your tongue. And yet again, you see my eyebrows rise. Because a sweet treat without natural or added sugar means artificial sweeteners have been used instead: #maltitol and #steviolglycosides ( #stevia extract). The latter may be pretty innocent.
The red colouring comes from fruit and veggie juices (halleluyah): carrot and blackberry.
šŸ¤”But honestly, I do not like it and I am opposed when products that should only be consumed with good sense and in full consciousness such as #foodsupplements that boast levels of #minerals and #vitamins that are relatively high or concentrated and that will interfere with the natural agents already present in your normal food intake, are marketed, disguised and sold as sweets.
😐Let’s go for more clarity in #food matters. If we combat a food system where the truth about the food’s origin is occulted or hidden or falsified, making it easy to sell meat and dairy issued from systemic cruelty as healthy, beneficial or even joyful, why would we accept the other techniques of confusion, distraction and lies currently used by the food industry?šŸ¤”
šŸ‘‰The only food supplement you need as a vegan is vitamin B12. The only other food supplement you need as a mainly indoor living human or northern hemisphere temperate climate inhabitant is vitamin D3. All the rest you can have out of healthy, unprocessed or lightly processed (i.e. cooked) plant foods, unless your regular blood analysis shows some deficiency. In that case it is better to rebalance your food intake habits instead of taking artificial supplements.
Ingredients: The gummies themselves are simply modified starch and a combination of coconut and rapeseed oil. So thank god no gelatine.
Shape/Conditioning: 180 g single use plastic transparent BIG bottle with 60 gummies. I first wrote that there is no information about the matter used to make the bottle. But I found a small logo stating the bottle is made of recycled PET. Whether partly or for 100%, that's not clear. But at least, that's a better deal than completely new PET. Moreover, the cardboard box that contained three of these bottles actively invited to recycle the cardboard, which is good too (see picture). Security screw on lid, and that’s a good thing because kids might want to finish the bottle all in one day. Marketed and labelled as vegan. It is another inconvenience of oversizing food supplements to sweets: excessive use and waste of packaging.šŸ‘Ž
Price: No idea about the market price. I have not yet found these gummies over here. They are made in the Netherlands.
IĀ received these gummies as part of a three bottle discovery set as one of the winners in the #veganisnotscary competition. And as this is an intra-EU shipment I did not have to pay any customs duties. Thank you @abillion .
