I’ve been thinking about this veggie recently.

Xiao Bai Chye from what I know is not a local veggie. But it is one of the most common veggie around.

Just like apples and oranges. It’s not our native fruits. But it’s so cheap and abundant.

I learnt from somewhere we should eat local. That’s what matches our body the best.

Xiao Bai Chye is tasty. Easy to cook and very versatile though. No wonder it took the top spot. The veggie king 😂

dafnelately It can grow locally though right? 🧐 Eating only native plants to the area would exclude many things such as chilli, eggplant, broccoli, and tomatoes. 3 likesReply
veganhubby Yeah. We can’t do without them😅 We m just commenting that it’s best for our body to eat local, that’s what I learnt from a chef.

Best to eat what our ancestors eats. But a lot of people will protest 😭

But very body needs is different.2 likesReply
dafnelately I suppose that’s an issue with island nations 😅 Most of the vegetables are imported. There are so many types of spinach I can find just across the border that aren’t readily available in Singapore supermarkets.

Even a regular plating of #ulam includes so many vegetables you’d hardly ever see otherwise 🌿2 likesReply
