I once read the origin story of the doughnut where the middle of the fried dough would never quite cook through properly, so they put a nut in the centre - hence the dough-nut. As time went on other delicious food stuffs replaced the nut: creams, sauces, conserves and … my favourite… jam. This doughnut is NOT true to its origins because the jam isn’t just in the centre - it is literally spilling out of the side with generosity! Yum yum yum yum yum 🍩
