Zaytoun

#minorityowned, #fairtrade, #ethicallymade

I’m in love with these dates. They’re as lovely and beautiful as you might expect from a date, almost melt-in-your-mouth. Plus, they’re ethically sourced from Palestinian-owned farms in Jericho, in support of Palestinian communities, which adds an extra layer of sweetness. I have a couple with my morning coffee before breakfast. or anytime, really.

Zaytoun’s products are ethically sourced from Palestine, in the name of standing in solidarity with Palestinian farming communities. They have olives and olive oils, almonds, Za'atar spice mixes, dates, as well as olive oil soaps and more. I’m Keen to explore their range of products. I acknowledge that a tiny purchase such as this isn’t much, but hopefully it’s a step in the right direction.

I’m certain many of us here care about social justice, and recognise that Israel’s apartheid and domination over Palestinians is cruel and criminal, to say the least. No amount of pink-washing and vegan-washing by Israel and their IDF will distract us from their widespread senseless killing and oppression. We all know that Apartheid is anti-vegan.

But I digress. Anyways if you’re after a feel-good date, this ticks all the boxes.

soy-orbison Yes, very ironic how Israel keeps popping up on these lists for most vegan-friendly countries in the world. 1 likeReply
