I’ve never had crab before, so this was an new experience for me. They come frozen and you can fry them in a skillet for a few minutes on each side. I found them to be juicy while also having a chewiness to it. There are stringy shreds of something, possibly seaweed I guess. Flavor wise, you definitely taste the sea. I really enjoyed them!

Nutritionally, each 2.3 ounce (65g) cake provides 120 calories from 6g of fat, 23g of carbohydrates and 3g of protein. I only wish it would be more complete with extra protein in it.

Picked this up in August-September for $5.48 at Walmart, but haven’t seen it there since. 😢 I was also able to find it for $6.99 at Mom’s Organic Market.

beckyyy If you have a Grocery Outlet in your area, take a look in their frozen section. Mine has this brand often, though items cycle through and sometimes don’t return as they are overstock or items being rebranded. 1 likeReply
glutenfreevee I do, but have yet to go as it is about an hour away! Hopefully in the next couple of months I’ll get a chance to go. Anything you’d suggest checking out when I go?1 likeReply
beckyyy Well both a pro and a con of GO is that items change over so it would be hard to predict exactly what you’ll find. If you have the Instacart app you could put in an address close to that GO, search for “vegan” and get a bit of an idea - though the app isn’t always 100% accurate. I guess my best advice would be to go down every isle as there can be great finds in all spots! Sometimes there’s vegan and GF soap, deodorant, toothpaste etc. I’d scan the produce but, in my case, there’s usually less deals there. Sometimes they have items that are harder to find though it’s worth a scan! There’s usually a good number of nut butters, granolas and other snacky items. Some are at a great price and others aren’t much of a deal but if you know what you generally pay for items you can make a good assessment. The golden spots for me personally are the “dairy” frozen and beverage areas. I’ve found Miyoko’s, Kite Hill and Treeline items at bargain prices…like a 1/3 of retail price in most cases! There’s usually a good deal of frozen vegan items but they are not all in one spot so I’d scan through everything. Frozen pizzas, meat replacements, frozen veggie mixes - many at great prices. Also, there’s usually a gaggle of vegan ice creams, ice cream bars and popsicles at fantastic prices. I always check the beverages for deals on kombuchas and creamers. Sometimes it’s a bargain, sometimes not and I skip what I find.

In general I’ve found that sometimes I find brands or items there that I’ve never seen anyplace else so it’s a good opportunity to try them. Just don’t get too attached because they might be gone the next time!

Okay, yes, I admit I love grocery shopping! 🤭1 likeReply
glutenfreevee Thanks for the detailed list! They seem to have some products that are a steal, while others not so much (yes, I downloaded Instacart just to check 😅). I’ll definitely set a good hour or so to scan the isles. I hope it’s not too big of a store, or maybe I’ll need more like two+ hours! 😂

What’s nice is that my local supermarkets have their own apps with store prices, so I can always cross check even when I’m away. 😉1 likeReply
