Veggie Burger at Apache Burgerslouisg's Review (Mar 21, 2023)

Apache Burger, in Toronto’s west end, is a pretty popular and busy burger joint. It was particularly popular with one of Toronto’s former mayors, Rob Ford. There is always a flow of customers coming in, so expect to wait a bit for your order. The staff is quite friendly and talkative. The decor is a little outdated, but that’s part of the charm.

The only vegan burger on the menu is a Veggie Burger. I was glad to see it’s priced on par with a hamburger ($6.20, I think); there’s no vegan premium here. In addition to having your veggie burger grilled, you can choose your toppings. I opted to have it “dragged through the garden” - onions, tomatoes, pickles and hot peppers, in addition to the regular condiments (ketchup, mustard, relish and bbq sauce).

The burger is grilled on the same grill as meat burgers. I don’t know if the veggie burger has its own dedicated grill space. To me, it doesn’t matter; I don’t want to make it difficult for restaurants to cater to vegans.

Honestly, the Veggie Burger tastes and looks like a typical burger. The difference is negligible, if there is one at all. I don’t go to Apache Burger often, but I will return.
