These smart dogs taste great and have a Smokey flavor. I don’t buy them very often because I never really have a craving for hot dogs, but I got them because my family was grilling out. They cleaned the grill really well for me and put my smart dogs on first, which was really thoughtful! 😋 My omnivore family tried them, however, and did not like them at all. They said it tastes like cheap hotdogs, which, they kinda do 🤷🏻‍♀️ But it is a good snack. I wouldn’t say it’s a complete meal unless you add a bunch of sides or eat more than one smart dog. It’s not filling.

But, these do contain carrageenan. Interestingly, food-grade carrageenan is extracted from red seaweed and processed with alkaline. When carrageenan is processed with acid, however, it creates a substance called degraded carrageenan, or poligeenan, and causes gut tumors, and ulcers, and may trigger colon cancer.
