Being sick and out of commission is not great fun, but when it happens for one to two weeks, it’s a good idea to find something that can help your body’s boost recovery time. I purchased these after buying the Nature’s Way vitamin C lozenges (review upcoming) because I was looking for one which had more elderberry per serving. The nutritional facts on the vitamin C ones were a bit deceiving as they made it reflective of 4 lozenges, while this one is reflective of each individual lozenge. Also, these are on sale at Whole Foods, where I bought them from, whereas the vitamin C ones there are just regular price.
I do have to say, that these have a strong elderberry flavor and are quite solid. When I bite into them (who could resist?), it acts more like a lollipop in that it kind of separates into shards. It’s also important to note that too much elderberry can affect one’s digestive system, so be aware if you gravitate towards these. My tummy was a little upset, which I didn’t experience with the vitamin C lozenges.
Nutritionally, each (4g) lozenge contains 15 calories from 4g of carbohydrates and provides 60mg of vitamin C, 5 mg of zinc and 12.5g of organic black elder extract.
This is being sold at Whole Foods for $5.99; currently on sale for $4.79 until November 29th.
