Review of Jumbo Chilli Crab Mantou at Lotus Café 蓮心食坊 by xinru-t
Crispy and golden-brown fried mantou bread stuffed with Happiee Fishiee pattie and drizzled in sweet-spicy chilli crab sauce. The konjac patty was of course not like real crab meat, but the QQ texture and seafood aroma was quite nice! Personally would have liked some tofu scramble or yuba skin 'egg' to take the chilli crab concept to the next level. Served with housemade potato wedges that were surprisingly nice, as well as a leafy salad to balance out the sinfulness of the fried mantou. Not sides I would have expected, but I suppose the idea was to create a Chinese-style burger set. Interesting and tasty fusion take on our local favourite! (Allium-free, $9.90)
