Red bean is one of those unoffensive moon cake flavors â not terribly exciting, but enjoyed by kids and grandparents alike. For me, the filling is a little too sweet; if the pastry didnât clearly state the contents, I wouldnât necessarily know that I was eating red bean paste. Iâm also docking it (and all of the moon cakes we purchased this year) a star in the presentation category for excessive plastic packaging. Still, itâs a safe and straightforward choice that also runs slightly cheaper ($2.60) than the other flavors.

2023 update: I went to repurchase these for Mid-Autumn Festival and they now contain egg :( or perhaps they always did, and just werenât labelled properly⌠really disappointed.
