Review of Lemongrass Long Black at Chu An Cafe by stevenneoh

This looks stunning but unfortunately that only served to make the taste rather unspectacular and underwhelming 😬 The #lemongrass wasn't a flavoured syrup but rather an actual thing stuffed into the #longblack #coffee; on a hot day, that doesn't allow any flavour transfer before the whole #icedcoffee is gulped down in twenty seconds 😏

Still qualifies for #teamblackcoffee though 🙌🙌 Also, this café has a really nice view into a faux cobblestone pathway with trishaws etc. And the little stream that runs through historic Hoi An. Shame I forgot to photograph all that 🙈

shmoopsify Overall, how vegan friendly would you say Vietnam is? We’ve been thinking of going there.3 likesReply
stevenneoh I'm only in Da Nang and haven't been to Saigon or Hanoi as a vegan so can't comment on Vietnam more generally. But stay well clear of Da Nang; apart from the odd few vegetarian places you'll be hard pressed to find good vegan stuff here. They don't even do basic things like offer dairy alternatives in cafés. My honest opinion (which I'm sure someone will indignantly challenge): Take your tourist dollar to Thailand instead, where vegan options are plentiful and it's just all-round more pleasant as a country.3 likesReply
shmoopsify Thank you for your honesty. From everything I’ve looked into, that seemed the case but I thought your opinion would be helpful. We’ve been to Thailand and loved the country as well as all the great vegan food. 😁3 likesReply
