I had high hopes for this vegan paneer. Upon opening it, I was not impressed by the first sniff - smelled like strong tofu. I gave it a taste. It is crumbly, pasty, and yet dry. No good taste at all. I thought it would be more creamy for how much fat is in it!
I added a bit of a marinade to make it a little more cheesy - some water, nutritional yeast, salt, rice vinegar. I did the same for some tofu. I sautĆ©ed both separately. The tofu cooked as usual and was delicious. This stuff stuck to the pan more, crumbled apart when I wasn’t careful enough, and it didn’t get a tasty crust like tofu does, it just kind of dried up on the outside. Didn’t taste much better than before. I made a palak paneer curry and added both this and the tofu to it. Though my tofu was a bit on the soft side, it tasted much better than this vegan paneer. The paneer remained dry tasting, yet pasty and crumbly. Even if I could not eat soy, I would not bother buying this again. Unpleasant.

We are sorry you had this experience with the paneer. We recommend to keep paneer in lemon water for 15 min prior to cooking. Hope you can give it another chance and enjoy the paneer as well as we do.
