My inbox was flooded with the upcoming so-called #acaibowl day yesterday. So even though it’s still not officially smoothie season for me, I surrendered to the temptation🫐🥝🍫🥥
Like the other acai brands, these came in layers of plastic😣 But I don’t blame the business but myself as a consumer who wants something “exotic”. Why? Because acai berries are highly perishable. There’s no way to ship them half way across the world without freezing them puréed-style or dried and grinding them into powder within a day of harvest.
For my own conscience, taking into consideration of my overall eating habit, I don’t exclude it completely from consumption but only get it once in a while (I used to buy them without a blink of an eye😥).
I hope Trader Joe’s would come up with a better material though, seeing that they’re already replacing some plastic packaging to compostable one🙏🏼
