Dan Dan Noodles are recommended as Spicy Moon's most popular dish, so we felt it would be good as one of our entree options. It's made up of warm flour noodles in homemade chili oil, sweet soy sauce, sesame paste, and sesame oil. It's served with scallions and we added Beyond Meat for an extra $4. Unfortunately, I wasn't really into this. It was sweeter than I was expecting, and the sesame paste gave it a flavor I wasn't really a fan of. I was also surprised by how spicy it was! They show how spicy things are on the menu with zero through three peppers. This one only has one, so I'd be interested to see what a three pepper dish like the mapo tofu would be like! I've never had crab rangoon before, but I understood generally what I was getting into because cream cheese wontons were my favorite food as a kid. These ended up being my favorite dish of our lunch here! The inner vegan cream cheese with "crab" was so creamy and delicious. Spicy Moon is one of those restaurants that seems to show up on everyone's favorite NYC restaurants list if you ask. I made it my first stop after checking into the hotel this time! This East Village location is tiny! We went around 1:30pm and all the tables were full except for one two-top and the two seats at a bar looking out the window. Since we didn't have a reservation, the server had us sit at the window, which was perfect imo. I was happy to people watch and just look at the beautiful flowering trees of NYC! This dish has such a wide variety of veggies! I noticed, pea pods, broccoli, cauliflower, pepper, onion, potato, Chinese eggplant, and lotus root. I also saw two types of mushrooms; I think it was black fungus and shiitake. On top of all that, there's thinly sliced tofu that did a really good job of soaking up the delicious sauce! Unfortunately, this dish does not come with rice, so you need to add it on for $1.95 (or $2.95 for brown rice). Every dish we had here was DIVINE, including this huge bowl of dan dan noodles!! Flavourful minced meat, noodles had a creamy soft texture and portions were generous. In total we shared 3 dishes between the two of us but even then it was alot and we ended up with leftovers for every dish to take home. Wish we had more space to try the other dishes, I loved everything we ordered!

When we ordered this I did not expect it to come in THICC generous slices so this was a pleasant surprise! Batter was delightfully crunchy and eggplant was still slightly juicy inside. The sauce also tasted amazing. We were 2 pax so this was a hefty appetiser that’s better shared between 3 pax…we had to takeaway 😹

This dish was much much spicier than it looked, but I was still able to enjoy the other flavors. The sauce seemed to have a lot of sesame oil and was very rich. The Beyond Beef crumble also had a great texture and taste.
