This risotto is on Barbette's regular menu as one of two vegetarian options. It typically comes with ricotta, but it can be made vegan upon request. It is really creamy and fresh tasting. Everything came out of the kitchen piping hot, but I couldn't wait for it to cool down. I wasn't as excited about this as the special Gnocchi, but I recognize in any other situation I would have been impressed. I hope they continue to add vegan options! It's priced at $22, much cheaper than the meat options here. #risotto #french #italian #rice

This is Barbette's entry for the Twin Cities Vegan Chef Challenge. It's sooo incredible and I really hope they see how much everyone loves it and decide to make it a permanent addition to the menu! The gnocchi's texture isn't traditional, but it's so savory since it's made with porcini mushrooms. It also has arugula, broccolini, Calabrian chilies, and almond crème. The almond crème was so delicious and unlike anything I've had before. It has a sweetness that almonds have but was so incredibly creamy. The chilies gave the slightest burn. The only thing I'd change is add more broccolini. I counted only three small pieces. It's $22 which is more than I usually spend, but this is a very creative and high quality dish.
