Call me old fashioned perhaps but no restaurant should have any business selling #friedrice this good 😤 Yesterday I had two servings of their #thaibasil one & tonight I literally physically had no choice to hobbit up and have a second dinner because my friend decided to sit here 🧌 It’s still the same basic vegetables & without #tofu but tonight they made it extra special Thai #spicy 🥵 Thankfully #welikeitspicy because we’d consume just about anything in order to feel something 😔✊ I haven’t even tried their #greencurry proper and I’m already in their #fusion zone, but I bet it’ll be a banger too. Hecking #bestpicks of a restaurant 🙌 #thaifood #thailand #veganthailand

I never realised how much of a #tofu goth I was until this trip 😯 I have been corrupted by the likes of @m1tch9i and have found myself drawn more and more to this cubed curd of beans 🫘 You don’t really see it quite as much in local dishes as you would in the north where vegetarian food is more common. Krabi, unlike the north where Mahāyāna traditions have prospered due to Chinese immigration, practice Theravāda Buddhism which isn’t as restrictive of people’s food intake — or so I’ve been informed. There is also a sizeable Muslim population here & it’s a coastal community so #seafood is the norm and local “vegetarian” cuisine really is just vegetables, nuts 🥜, and the rare bean or legume 🫛 Tofu is not a staple in restaurants and will not feature in most food vendor options as part of a vegetarian or vegan meal. Thankfully though, it’s still an option almost everywhere and Thailand has not yet been corrupted (or spoiled) by Japanese egg tofu, so this is still a safe option anywhere 😅 I checked and the #chillisauce they use here is #accidentallyvegan! So is the sour stuff 😋 Just erm, you know the deal with cross contamination when #omnivegandining 🐟 Use your best judgement when going around.

I had two servings of this is how good it was ✌️ I’ve been doing myself a major disservice not eating here sooner 😫 They have a tonne of “vegetable” options, that can be made vegetarian friendly or “vegetarian” — for those that eat plant proteins only but make the exception for things like #fishsauce 🐟 Of course you’ll have to #droptheegg too but the staff were fairly easy to communicate with 🤗 There’s no #tofu so I had to order some on the side but there’s plenty of vegetables in this & they actually are willing to make it Thai #spicy 🌶️ I think that’s half the reason I needed two servings of this 🫣 You do taste a lot of the #holybasil in this because it really is just the base #thaibasil cooked into a #friedrice and slathered with #soysauce! It’s so stupidly #umami I could not think of a better pairing for some beers and the pitless bottom a couple cheeky smokes can do to your stomach 🤰 You have to check this out if you’re in Krabi 🏝️ It’s perfect for #omnivegandining too if you’re with fussy nancy’s but thankfully my Nancy leaned towards the #plantbased option by default anyways because it’s simply the 21st century thing to do 😮‍💨
