Okay this was an interesting #dessert - the #aloe #jelly and the #longan did what you would expect them to do - be sweet and slightly/tolerably medicinal, but then the #lemonjuice that they left lurking beneath the layer of jelly was extremely sour/acidic 😬 I'm not even sure if I liked it or not, ultimately! Their dessert menu is reasonably extensive but completely unmarked for dietaries 🙄 It turns out that several of them have unmarked dairy which is intrinsic/inextricable 😭 However there's this, and there's a couple of their elixirs which I'm looking forward to trying on a future visit 😉

Maybe I was really hungry, maybe I was cognisant that beggars couldn't be choosers, maybe I'm just a recalcitrant #carbivore, or maybe this #friedrice was actually unexpectedly good 😅 I mean, it does look like there isn't much to it doesn't it. Some chopped #carrot, some chopped #longbeans, some #cabbage somewhere, a fistful of spices, and a delightful amount of grease 😛 There would've been egg as well, this is vegetarian not vegan by default 🥲 I live really close to the Five but I rarely come here because I wasn't aware of anyone offering vegan-friendly food. We were shopping at the nearby Qra Supermarket (which by contrast is super super vegan-friendly) and decided we wanted #brunch so we forced ourselves to look at options 😬 We discovered this lovely place with slightly extravagant classical but (plastic) plant-forward decor, and liked how they had a single #sympathyoption in pretty much every section of their #dimsum menu 🥲 Their bigger thing is the halal certification, which not many dim sum/Chinese places have. So when you come in with a different kind of dietary they get a bit flummoxed 😂

Oh yes this was excellent ☺️ The ingenuity and the flavour made it fully worth the RM14 price tag. The #pear wasn't some supermarket concentrate, but rather a pear puree that they admittedly amped up by adding sweeteners and other elixirs 😛 The #floral bit came from the combination of #chrysanthemum and #elderflower, which was a lovely blend of something more stereotypically floral with something that, well, was pretty much #tea 😅 The #fizzy #soda completed what was pretty much a perfect beverage for the tropics!
