I wouldn’t recommend travelling all the way to eat at this place, but if you are already in the Navigli area in Milano, and you’re hungry, Assaje is a decent place to grab a vegan pizza. They have a small vegan section on the menu. We ordered the one with three tomatoes. They first served us a non-vegan version of the pizza. Thankfully I caught that immediately because they’d got our friends’ vegan pizza order right and I could clearly see the difference in the cheese. I asked the server twice if our pizza is vegan before he understood my question. He immediately apologised for bringing the wrong order and got a vegan pizza made. The base and toppings were tasty. But the outer edge of the crust was dry and plain. It would be nice if they served a dip or sauce of some kind to finish the crust with. Outdoor seating is atmospheric and more appealing than the stuffy indoor seating. But unfortunately smoking is allowed in public areas in Europe so we had to endure second hand smoke from a neighbouring table. *yuck* If you do go here, carry your own water. They don’t serve tap water and the bottled water is really small and pricey.
