Spot the #leafygreens in today's lunch! If you can't, that's because they aren't terribly leafy. My bad for arriving at an ungodly time past lunchtime, so this amalgamation of bok choy (Chinese lettuce) and cai xin were the only leaves left. Pretty decent if you like these particular veggies - for me I much prefer #darkleafygreens.

Yes this be a classic blink-and-still-can't-miss-it dish at your typical Chinese vegetarian stall-next-door. But who cares whether it's predictable when it's THIS good? To repeat: it's GOOD and best paired with its other predictable partner-in-crime: bee hoon (rice vermicelli).👯‍♀️

This pink Teochew kueh is THE classic png kueh filled with salted glutinous rice and diced mushrooms. That said I much prefer the yam version of this kueh, which you can also find at this 21 Cafe coffeeshop stall near Jurong Library. What can I say - it's yam over rice for me. 🍠>🌾.

Teochew png kuehs were sold out so switched dialect foods with this 'zong zi' (steamed savoury pyramid-shaped rice dumpling). Came with the typical filling of mushrooms, mock meat and chestnuts. It was okay and just so-so. Still, this veg stall in Jurong East Central is helmed by one of the loveliest, nicest stallholders on this sunny island of SG.
